Methyl methacrylate is a monomer, or simple molecule.
The plastics trade magazines, have new combinations of
catalysts and monomers at an mind boggling rate.
Catalysts are substances that changes the speed of a chemical reaction.
A monomer is a relatively simple compound which when combined with a catalyst will react to form a polymer.

Polymethyl methacrylate is the monomer/catalyst combination that many acrylic plastic polymers are created from. Polymers are a high molecular weight organic compound. (natural or synthetic)

Plastic fabricators can play chemists with an industrial glue, weld on 40.
The clear heavy syrup, is the monomer, the small brown bottle contains the catalyst.
It is supposed to be refrigerated, but the sealed jar still has a slight chemical smell.
Handle catalyst's carefully, they are a nasty health hazard.
